• How do I order? Go to my Etsy Shop, or contact me directly by email.
You will need to send me a photo of your pet, or direct me to Flickr or other online source to your photo.
<------ See additional information to the left.
• How much will it cost? See basic price and a few optional add-ons to the left. There are lots of options beyond the basics if you're interested... I will give you a quote once we have discussed your ideas.
<------ See additional information to the left.
• What do I get? You will receive a high resolution (300 ppi) jpeg file that is usually 1MB to 3MB in size.
• How long will it take? I try to get a sneak peek to you within 2 weeks, however this all depends on how many orders I have.
If your order is for a gift, I recommend getting your photos to me at least 1 month ahead of the dated you need it. Plus, if you plan to use the file for custom gift items, you'll need to allow time for that also.
• Can I order your art as a gift? Absolutely! It makes a wonderful gift. Just allow plenty of time. But if there's not enough time, I will soon have a lovely gift announcement card you can print yourself to give that says "the gift is coming soon".
• Can you combine more than one pet into a single portrait from separate photos? Absolutely! The trickiest part of that is getting a size relationship between the multiple subjects. I will send a preliminary sketch for you to determine if I have the sizing correct.
• How big is the art? Since you receive a file vs a physical piece of art, there is very little limit to the size you can have it printed. For desktop printers, the file is suitable for printing up to 11x14 and excellent for custom, on-demand type printing of one-at-a-time items like a t-shirt, totebag, pillow, ceramic mug, etc. from Cafepress and Zazzle.
If you know you'll be using the art for very large printing, do let me know and I can adjust things on my end. The final file with be much larger so be prepared for that.
• Can I buy a print? There are many online option for purchasing a print... Zazzle .com has a nice selection in their "Posters & Prints" section. You can also use the photo printing kiosks at your local stores to print small ones. Kinko's and Office Max will often make prints from files too.
• I purchased a black & white portrait a while back. Can I have it colorized? Yes, you can upgrade to color. I keep files archived, so I can access your portrait and re-create it in color.
<------ See the special pricing to the left.
• Can I cancel my order? Order cancelation requests must be made within 14 days of order date to receive a full refund.
• What if I ordered, but forgot to send you the photos? Please send your photos as soon as possible. If I have not received them within 3 months, there will be a $10 re-order fee.
• How long have you been an artist? ...for as long as I can remember. I drew my first horse portrait when I was 5 - my dad still has it! I remember gluing macaroni around the edge of the cardboard to make a frame...I think the pasta has fallen off by now. I've also been a freelance graphic artist for over 20 years.
• How do you draw and paint these? Although my technique and finished drawings often look very traditional, my medium is digital - pixels instead of paint. I draw with a digital stylus pen instead of pencils and work on a digital graphics tablet instead of a paper tablet. This digital method shows each stroke I make on my computer monitor, then I save the finished art to a file. Take a look at this slideshow for a visual explaination.
• What inspires you? Nature and animals. The variety of colors, textures and features of each animal is very exiting and intriguing. Animal behavior has always fascinated me and after over 130 foster cats, I say without a doubt no two are alike.
• Are there any restriction on how I can use my art file? Once you receive your file, the art is yours to do with as you please. It can be used for personal or commercial. Use it to make items to sell or publish if you like.
• Do I own the copyright to the art? I give you permission/full usage rights to the art, but no, you do not own the copyright. As the artist, I keep the copyright. This means you can not claim you created the art nor can you give others permission to use it as I have given you. And just as you, I have the right to use it for various projects.
• Can I buy the copyright? Yes. Price for copyright ownership is negotiated for each individual piece of art. Just ask and we'll discuss it. |
