: I am very much against this procedure. I come from
: Europe and had never heard of declawing cats until I
: came to the U.S. When my husband and I went apartment
: hunting a year ago, we were horrified to be told by
: one apartment complex that our 11 year old cat (who
: had just recovered from a cancer op)would have to be
: declawed before we would be allowed to live there.
: Needless to say, we did not take the apartment!

Hello Sar from a fellow European, in this case a Brit:-)
Declawing just isn't done in the UK, either and I am horrified that it is done ANYWHERE!
This is not an anti American thing in any way:-) it's just declawing really is cruel and unnecessary.
I am very glad that you did not have your cat declawed. I hope you went on to find good accommodation for ALL of you.

Kind regards, helen S
