: : hi there does anyone know if cats are color blind????and i have two four month old cats....what to feed them and how much????what food???
: I don't know if cats are color blind but I do know about feeding. My kitten has just turned 7 months old. I free feed him purina kitten chow and I give him one pack of Friskies Homestyle favorites in the flavor lock pouches. he is healthy and happy.
: cats are not color blind but they probalbly do not perceive the range of colors that human's do. It is thought that it is more of a pastel view of the world. As for the feeding: at this age you probably don't need to worry about the cats eating too much and getting fat as they are active and growing so you can let them have access to dry food at all times. Feed a high quality cat food - ask your vet for advice here. Have fresh water available at all times. Start paying close attention to their weight at about 6 months of age ( when they are ready to be spayed or neutered) as they aren't growing as fast by this time and they could start to get heavy. If this start to happen, begin feeding them twice a day and put away any uneaten food after 15-20 minutes. Try 1/4 cup of food at each sitting and monitor their weight so you can increase or decrease the amount of food as needed. They will quickly learn to eat at meal times and this makes keeping them at a healthy weight much easier. Continue to provide fresh water at all times.
